Everywhere I go, I seem to collect a new name. So far I have been known as Kathrine, Kath, Kathy, Kat and now by my portuguese friends: Kati. I love this, as to me it creates a specific bond with specific people, and awakens my memory to different times in my life. With those names I can pin point exactly what sort of person I was at that specific time, and with it, fond memories are brought back.
Right now I am generally called Kathy, or Kati. This is kind of ironic, as once upon a time I hated being called Kathy. That was back when I was called Kath, and at that time I generally didn’t like the name Kathy because it was too girlie, and I wore jeans most of the time. These days I prefer to be a bit more feminine, and enjoy wearing dresses and girlie boots!
Whatever my name is, and wherever I go, I hope I leave a good impression and good memories. On living here, I have learned how to be far more relaxed in social situations, and have learned how to smile openly at anyone. Strangely enough, this is mostly due to the fact that I can’t really talk to anyone very well, so instead I smile, whether I am in the mood to or not. This has made me realise how little I used to smile, and how incredibly important it is.
I hope that this habit stays. Whoever I become next.
